The Psychology of Counselling Certification Program. The purpose of this course is to help people to understand and accept themselves, and their behaviours and to work with trained individuals to help themselves. The main purpose is therefore to bring about change in individuals who are in need of help. This course is necessary if you are advising people in any field of financial counselling, coaching, training conducting workshops in any field as well as if you are in any field interacting with people to bring about behaviour change including business coaching and mentoring others.
The course outlines behavioural techniques to help clients reduce depression, stress, and anxiety, and increase self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence. This course also covers youth, family, and marriage counselling including loss, grief, abuse, and trauma counselling.
Although the Institute cannot guarantee job placements or clients, graduates possess the skills required to assess and provide suitable interventions for a variety of mental health concerns such as:
- depression, anxiety, and other emotional and behavioural disorders
- assessment and treatment or referral for disorders found in the DSM V
- addictions: prevention, recovery and follow-up treatment
- youth, family, and marriage and couples’ issues
- suicide and emergency intervention
- identity and developmental milestones
- loss and grief
- abuse, trauma, and domestic violence
